Le Monde, racism and Colombia

Actualizándome en mi google reader, me encontré con un artículo de Le Monde Diplomatique, en inglés porque todavía el francés me da duro y aterrize en este artículo

Mitos Urbanos

“Most of the people who need help are black and most of the people who are doing the helping are white. We are tired of paying for the Chicago Housing Authority, and for public housing and public transportation that we don’t use”

Con todo y todo, sigo siendo más feliz acá. O no?

Colombia has been shaken by a series of revelations that have linked leading politicians and businessmen to death squads run by the rightwing United Self-Defence Forces of Colombia. The opposition has now accused President Alvaro Uribe of contacts with the paramilitaries. Dice Le Monde, miraré la versión impresa porque toca pagar acá para poder leer.

Y lo peor hay más: Questions are now being asked about the support the paramilitaries have received from other countries, including France. Several prominent Colombians implicated in the scandal, including Senator Miguel de la Espriella and Carlos Ordosgoitia, director of the Instituto de Concesiones, the state body that coordinates transport infrastructure, have stated that during an illegal meeting at Ralito, in 2001, two Argentinian-born “Sorbonne academics” acted as political advisers to Carlos Castaño
